Gabe Hooper, a senior at Viewmont High, placed second in the Class 5A boys final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 15:15.2 at the Utah High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Hooper ascended from seventh last season in the Class 5A final in 15:19.7, helping Viewmont secure second as a team by an 82-92 margin against first-time champion Maple Mountain.
