Avalon Mecham, a senior at American Fork High, finished second in the Class 6A girls state final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:38.4 at the Utah High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Mecham, who took second in Class 6A for the third consecutive year, helped American Fork place second behind Lone Peak by a 19-48 margin.
