Ashton Arnold, a sophomore at Altamont High, placed second in the boys 1A final by covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:16.7 at the Utah High School Activities Association state championship meet at the Regional Athletic Complex in Salt Lake City. Arnold, making his state finals debut, helped Altamont finish ninth overall as a team with 188 points.
