Eliza Arrington on DQ, Reagan Gardner on DQ Reversal in Girls 6A Final - Utah UHSAA Cross Country State Championships 2020
Published by
Eliza Arrington and Reagan Gardner, both seniors at Lone Peak High, discuss the emotional conclusion to the girls 6A final at the Utah High School Activities Association state meet at the Soldier Hollow course in Midway. Arrington was leading the race with 200 meters remaining, before falling and subsequently being disqualified for receiving assistance to allow her to finish. Following a third-place on the 5-kilometer layout in 20:31.9, Gardner returned to the course to help Arrington complete the race and was initially disqualified for the gesture, but the decision was later reversed, since Arrington gained no advantage from Gardner's actions. Even without Arrington, Lone Peak still placed five scorers in the top nine to repeat as 6A champions with a 29-74 victory over American Fork. More videos |
