Desert Hills seniors Bailey Brinkerhoff and Samantha Nelson placed fifth and sixth in the girls 4A final at the Utah UHSAA Cross Country State Championships at Sugarhouse Park, leading the Thunder to the team championship with a 55-78 victory over Pine View. Brinkerhoff covered the 3-mile course in 18:26.4 and Nelson ran 18:31.1 for Desert Hills, which captured its first girls championship in program history.
